Records: Piedmont, 4-7 (2-2 USA South); Pfeiffer, 10-2 (5-0 USA South)

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Piedmont University men's lacrosse team dropped a 23-6 decision on the road at USA South leader Pfeiffer University earlier Saturday afternoon.

Pfeiffer started hot scoring the first seven goals with Davis Palombo tallying two of the seven for the hosting Falcons.

Finding itself in an early hole, Piedmont responded with Trenton Steeves scoring a goal of his own on a solo effort that stopped the Pfeiffer run.

However, the Falcons answered with a score on an extra-man opportunity, an area they were efficient in on the afternoon scoring three times on four such opportunities.

In the second period, Piedmont would find its legs as Will Isley scored the first of his two goals on the day at the 12:30 mark to even up the scoring in the period.

Pfeiffer responded with three goals, including two solo efforts, before Isley scored his second goal of the day with 3:12 left before the halftime break.

However, Isley's goal was Piedmont's final score of the half as the Falcons gripped a nine-goal lead before the 3rd quarter.

In the second half, Pfeiffer held off a Lions squad starting to chip into the lead by scoring goals to keep pace with Piedmont's mounting comeback.

The Falcons then hammered away any doubt with an 8 goal streak to end the game and take the eventual 23-6 win in conference play.

TURNING POINT:
- Pfeiffer raced out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter before Piedmont found its footing in the road contest and the Falcons held the lead the rest of the afternoon.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Will Isley, Grady Eyler, and Trenton Steeves all scored two goals each to lead the Lion attack in the conference contest.
- Ian Kuysten did the work defensively causing three turnovers and scooping up four ground balls, both team highs.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- 15 of Pfeiffer's 23 goals came in two long stretches to start and the end the contest as the Falcons tallied the final eight goals in the game as well.
- Pfeiffer bested Piedmont in the extra-man offense going 3-for-4 in its man-up opportunities.
- The Piedmont offense came from three players who scored two goals apiece while Pfeiffer saw nine different Falcons punch the net.
