DEMOREST, Ga. - After a dramatic home win on Tuesday, there was no drama needed for Piedmont men's tennis on Friday in Demorest with a dominant 7-0 win over Belhaven.

The win moves the Lions to a perfect 2-0 in conference play ahead of a big match coming up tomorrow afternoon against Covenant.

Piedmont was clinical from start to finish on Friday, cruising to the doubles point before dispatching the Blazers in straight sets in all six singles matches.

No. 2 doubles put up the first doubles win, as Charles Parnell and Mark Backeberg rolled to a 6-2 victory. The doubles duo of Rohan Kavali and Horacio Rodriguez did not drop a single game at No. 3 on the way to the point-clinching win for the Lions. Although the first two doubles matches to finish were one-sided, No. 1 doubles was a hard-fought battle, but the Lions ultimately prevailed, with Caleb McElveen and Leyton Dunn playing a dominant tiebreak to sweep doubles with a 7-6 (0) victory.

With a simultaneous women's match occurring, the No. 1 through No. 3 singles matches took the courts first. Rodriguez continued his perfect day, not dropping a single game with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at No. 3.

Tuesday afternoon's hero Kavali cruised on Friday, winning 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 before Backeberg put the win in the books with a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 1.

The remaining three matches played out in Piedmont's favor as well. McElveen continued his breakout season, rolling to a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4.

Freshman Jack Maddox prevailed, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 for his first career conference dual singles win. Then, it was Amir Latipov to put the finishing touches on the win, ensuring the sweep with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 5.

Up next, the Lions will welcome rival Covenant to Demorest tomorrow, March 28 at 1:30 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
- The No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams combined to lose just two games, setting the tone for the dominant victory.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Rodriguez did not drop a single game across doubles and singles, teaming with Kavali at No. 3 doubles to clinch the doubles
