TRYON, N.C.—The Piedmont men's and women's track & field team took on their first two-day meet of the season at the Tryon Mid-Winter Invitational Friday and Saturday in North Carolina.
The Lions shared some love to more school records this Valentine's weekend and a few new personal bests.
Bella Caccamo went back-to-back with another school record on day one and came back to set a personal best on day two. Caccamo broke her own school record in the 600m (1:43.64) and placed second overall. On day two she competed in the 800m (2:26.47), setting a new personal best and finishing 16th overall.
Also breaking his own record,
George Ketch placed ninth overall in the weight throw with a mark of 15.54 m.
Allison Cantrell broke the third record of the meet in long jump, placing sixteenth overall with a mark of 5.20 m.The three Lions have had excellent performances this season and are rolling through it.
On the track side, many runners set new personal bests, including
Naomi Oti-Wapala, trying her hand again in the 600m and finishing eighth overall with a time of 1:48.
Brody Geckler opened up with his first 5K of the season and set a new personal best, finishing with a time of 16:35.07. On day two,
Silas Goolsby competed in the 60m, setting a new personal best and becoming fourth in the Piedmont record books.
On the field side,
Jacob Baker competed in the shot put (11.42 m) and set a new personal best.
Up next, the Lions will be heading to Columbia, South Carolina, for the USC Invite on February 21st.
