ATLANTA - Piedmont women's basketball freshman forward
Kylie Watkins has been awarded Collegiate Conference of the South Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
The Cleveland, Georgia native continued her standout debut season for the Lions this past week, helping them to a pair of CCS home victories.
She began the week with a complete all-around performance in a 72-50 win over Agnes Scott, scoring seven points while adding four rebounds, three assists and three steals in the dominant victory.
However, she saved her best for the weekend, contributing 16 points to go with eight rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block. In the late stages of the game with the outcome hanging in the balance, Watkins connected on back-to-back three-pointers, both of which took the Lions from trailing to leading in an eventual 67-64 victory over Huntingdon.
With her five CCS Rookie of the Week nods, Watkins now surpasses
Alexandria Willis's record of four, set in the 2023-24 season.
Up next, the Lions are back in action on the road, with a CCS contest at Wesleyan tomorrow, Jan. 13 at 5 p.m.
