LEXINGTON, Ky. - For the eighth time in her illustrious career at Piedmont,
Erin Donovan is coming home with a trophy.
The senior standout from Southaven, Mississippi held off a strong field to win the Transylvania Fall Kickoff by four strokes over her next closes competitors.
As a team, Piedmont women's golf fell one spot, but still delivered a strong fifth place finish in the event.
For Donovan, this marks the second time she takes the top spot at the Transylvania Fall event. However, it's her first solo win, as she shared the title in the 2023 opener.
After opening with a 3-under 70 on Sunday, Donovan backed up with a solid 1-under 72 on Monday, making 15 pars, two birdies and just a single bogey. She made just two bogeys overall over the 36 hole event.
Elsewhere for the Lions,
Keegan Goins backed up a fantastic opening round with another round in the 70's Monday, firing a 5-over 78 to finish +6 and in a tie for 11th place on the individual leaderboard.
Freshman
Zoe Shuttlesworth delivered a second consecutive round of 82 while fellow newcomer
Lila Polakowski had Piedmont's final counting score with an 85.
Playing as an individual,
Aubree Hill carded a solid 3-over 76 to earn a T-17th place finish.
Marissa Weaver added an 86 as an individual and
Addison Maney delivered a non-counting 89.
Denison took home the team title, finishing eight shots ahead of second place Christopher Newport.
Up next, the Lions will tee it up next at the MCC Montgomery Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Alabama beginning Sunday, Sept. 21.
