2024-25 PIEDMONT WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SEASON RECAP

  • The Lions had an outstanding 2024-25 season, cutting down the nets to capture the 2025 Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament Championship on their home floor.
  • Piedmont then earned an automatic bid to the NCAA DIII Tournament.
  • This marked the seventh conference title for head coach Jamie Purdy across three different conferences (GSAC, USA South, CCS).
  • Piedmont also took home a share of the CCS Regular Season Championship after a 14-2 conference record.
  • Andelin Hill was named CCS Player of the Year after earning Player of the Week honors five times during the season.

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

  • Trailing by one with the final seconds ticking down, Piedmont's Hayley Borino's 30-foot shot found nothing but net to send women's basketball to a dramatic 73-71 win at Sewanee on Saturday afternoon.
  • After falling behind by double digits early, the Lions clawed their way back in to take the lead late. However, a late turnover and foul put them behind with six seconds remaining. Then, on a broken play in the final seconds, Borino was able to gather a loose ball, find space and unleash a perfect swish from about 30 feet away as the buzzer sounded.
  • Senior Andelin Hill carried the team throughout, leading the squad with 17 points and 13 rebounds for her first double-double of the new season. Kelsey Banks added 13 points on a team-high three three-pointers while Nae-Nae Eades delivered a season-best 11 points off the bench.

Senior frontcourt mate Andelin Hilldelivered her sixth double double of the season, with 10 points and a career-high 15 rebounds while Ashley Scott added 11 points and three steals.
  • Junior guard Brooklyn Begley provided a spark off the bench, connecting on 3-of-6 from downtown for nine points in the contest.

  • CCS Player of the Year Andelin Hill delivered another double-double, with 23 points and 13 rebounds, going 11-for-14 from the free throw line. She was joined in double figures by Nae-Nae Eades with 11 points and Ashley Scott with 10 points.
  • It was a defensive struggle in the second quarter, with the Lions making just 2-of-14 field goals. However, a strong defensive quarter kept them in the game as they trailed 30-27 at the break.
  • The second half was another story, as Piedmont quickly established control of the game, outscoring the Panthers 45-24 in the second half.
  • After grabbing just one offensive rebound in the first half, Piedmont pulled down nine in the second half.

  • Piedmont women's basketball clinched its first ever Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament Title, rolling over Belhaven in the second half with a 64-51 win on Saturday afternoon inside Cave Arena.
  • Nae-Nae Eades was the catalyst for the Lions on offense, scoring a career-high 20 points on 18-of-22 from the free throw line while dishing out four assists. After the game, she was named CCS Tournament MVP.
  • Eades was joined in double figures by Alexandria Willis, who tallied 16 points and 12 rebounds, her fourth double double of the season. Seniors Ashley Scott and Andelin Hill pitched in as well, with Scott scoring 13 points and Hill grabbing a career-high 19 rebounds in the win.
  • Piedmont's aggressiveness on offense was the difference, shooting a season-high 40 free throws and making 31 of them, led by Eades' 18-of-22 performance.
  • While Belhaven was 8-of-12 from the field in the first quarter, the Piedmont defense was lockdown the rest of the game, holding the Blazers to just 10 field goals over the final three quarters. After Belhaven led 27-22 with 6:20 left in the second quarter, Piedmont did not allow another point until 5:37 left in the third quarter. By that point, the Lions had taken control with a 22-0 run to lead 44-27.
  • From there, Piedmont led by double digits the rest of the way, icing the championship down the stretch thanks to rock solid free throw shooting, smothering defense and relentless rebounding.
