GREENWOOD, Ind. - The College Sports Communicators (CSC) have released their Academic All-District teams for baseball and the Lions earned three honorees.
Senior
Kyle Carlson earned a repeat nod to the listing while fellow senior
Cole Ellis took a spot for the third straight year. Junior
Cody Funk earned honors for the first time in his career.
The 2025 Academic All-District® Baseball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.Â
Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 1, 2025.

Carlson capped off a prolific career with another superb season manning third base for the Lions. He started 41 of the team's 42 games and tied for the team lead with five home runs and placed second on the team with 31 RBI.
Cole Ellis | Sr. | Woodstock, Ga.

Another four-year starter for Piedmont, Ellis manned center field for the second year in a row and delivered another season with a .300 or better batting average. The Woodstock, Georgia native drove in 29 runs on the season and tied for fourth on the team with nine doubles. He was a plus on the basepaths as well, ranking fourth on the team with 13 stolen bases.
Cody Funk | Jr. | McDonough, Ga.

Funk delivered a breakout 2025 campaign in his second season as a full-time starter in the outfield. He was a force at the top of the batting order, with a .327 batting average and nine extra base hits. He also drew a team-high 31 walks and led the CCS with 35 stolen bases.
