Emory answered back in the fourth to tie the game and that was all the offenses could muster until extras. The game cruised by with a combined eight hits in the first seven innings.
In extras, the two teams totaled 11 hits and 11 runs.
Going straight to the international tie breaker, Emory plated a pair of runs in the eighth inning off two hits and a walk to lead 3-1. Piedmont was quick to keep pace with a sac fly by
Jasmine Lowery and a double by
Megan Steinmeyer tying the contest yet again.
It was another two run inning for the Eagles in the ninth as a pair of errors proved costly for Piedmont. Despite the defensive missteps,

Mandi Peretti who earned a bases-loaded walk to bring across the tying run.
Again, in the 10th, Emory was able to get on the board but with just one run, breaking the trend in extras of a two-spot for either side. Piedmont worked the bases loaded before a single out and a flyout to shallow right proved to be the game winner as an error on the throw in allowed the winning run to score.
