PUERTO RICO - Piedmont women's lacrosse won its third straight contest with a 21-22 win over Mount St. Mary on Monday in the Puerto Rico Clasico. This is also the third straight game the Lions have scored 20 or more. 

It was a fairly evenly matched contest early as Piedmont led 6-4 after the first period. The scoring slowed in the second with the Lions ahead 8-6 at the half, but the second half was all Piedmont. 

The Lions roared out of the half with seven goals in the third period and poured on another six in the fourth to outscore the Knights 13-4 in the second half. Piedmont had a total of six saves split equally between Rachel Verner and Ansli Cannon who split time evenly in goal.

Up next, the Lions will face UMass Dartouth in Puerto Rico to close out the Puerto Rico Clasico on Tuesday. 

TURNING POINT:
- Piedmont's lockdown defense held the Knights to just four goals in the second half outscoring them 13-4. 

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Laura Crone led Piedmont with five goals while Clara Welch added four.
- Lovette Choloh led the team with six draw controls.
