NEED TO KNOW:

Records: Piedmont, 6-0; Belhaven, 1-5
JACKSON, Miss. - Piedmont women's tennis remained unbeaten while opening up conference play in style, sweeping Belhaven 7-0 on Saturday afternoon in Jackson, Mississippi.
The Lions were dominant across both contested doubles lines and the five contested singles lines, winning in dominant fashion over the Blazers.
With Belhaven having only five available players, Piedmont won by default at the No. 3 doubles slot, meaning it would need just one of the two doubles matches to take the first point of the match.
Piedmont quickly took a 1-0 lead in the match courtesy of
Jordan Ballard and
Hollan Rabensdorf's 6-1 win at No. 1. Then, with the point clinched,
Bri Laidman and
Olivia Carpenter won 6-3 at No. 2 to keep momentum going to singles.
After the Lions won by default at No. 6 singles, they needed two victories to clinch the match. Laidman got things started, rolling to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 before Ballard delivered the clinch at No. 3, not dropping a single game in a 6-0, 6-0 clinical display.
Already having the match in the win column, the Lions did not let up, winning in straight sets in the remaining three matches for good measure.
Carpenter won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 while newcomer
Lauryn Leslie prevailed 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1.
Finally, Rabensdorf closed out the festivities with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 5.
The win pushes Piedmont's overall winning streak to 10 matches, dating back to last season.
Up next, the Lions will return home and host Huntingdon in CCS action this Friday, March 7 at 3 p.m.
