Women's Basketball Closes Out Undefeated Regular Season at Home on Senior Day

DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont women's basketball team closed out an undefeated regular season at home on Saturday with an 86-42 win over Wesleyan on Senior Day. 

Wesleyan was the first to score with a 3-pointer but Ashley Scott answered to tie it and Piedmont went on a 12-0 run to open up a 12-3 lead. The Lions never trailed after the first basket of the game and cruised ahead by as many as 20 in the first half. 


 

Piedmont led 46-30 at the break and scored the first eight points out of the locker room in the second half. The Lions limited the Wolves to just six points in each the third and fourth quarters and outscored them 40-12 in the second half. 

It was a balanced effort from Piedmont with no player tallying more than 16 minutes in the game. In total, Piedmont had 62 of its 86 points come off the bench. 

The Lions were dominant in the win to secure the ninth victory at home this season, closing out the regular season a perfect 9-0 inside Cave Arena. Piedmont now sits at 11-2 in conference play with three road games remaining in league play. 

Up next, the Lions will be on the road at Covenant for a CCS showdown on Tuesday, February 11. 

TURNING POINT:
- Piedmont was able to take a 16 point lead after the first quarter and left no doubt in this one, only trailing once after the first basket of the game. 

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Piedmont's top two scorers were off the bench as both Ava Hunter and Brooklyn Begley added 14 points. 
- Kivana Bogne collected a career-best six rebounds tied for the team high with Alexandria Willis

- Following the game, Nae-Nae Eades, Andelin Hill and Ashley Scott were honored for their careers in the Green and Gold.
