LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Piedmont women's basketball raced past Covenant on Tuesday night for a 90-57 win on Lookout Mountain.

Piedmont wasted no time in establishing a big lead, scoring 36 points in the opening quarter and cruising the rest of the way to move to 12-2 in conference play.

Alexandria Willis was dominant in the frontcourt, scoring a career-high 25 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Andelin Hill was also spectacular down low, scoring 18 points go with a team-high 12 rebounds.

Although the Scots scored the opening basket of the game, it did not take the Lions long to wrestle control of the game. Piedmont immediately went on a 10-0 run to leave the Scots in the dust. However, the real devastating run came over the final 4:23 of the opening quarter, when Piedmont used a 22-2 run to lead 36-13 after the opening 10 minutes of play.

Covenant saw its offensive output increase in the second quarter, with 18 points, but the Lions also scored 17 to reach the 50-point plateau in the first half and take a 22-point advantage to the break.

Any thoughts of a Covenant second half comeback were vanquished as Piedmont put up another 24 points in the quarter  to push its lead to 77-46 entering the fourth.

Both offenses slowed down over the final 10 minutes as Piedmont's pursuit of 100 points fell just short, but the outcome was never in doubt as it iced away a 33-point blowout victory.

Up next, the Lions will battle LaGrange on the road this Saturday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m.
