SEASON PREVIEW: Softball

Piedmont softball is set to open its 2025 season this weekend at home, hosting Mount St. Joseph at the WAC for a Friday doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. for game one with game two tentatively slated for 2 p.m.

  • The Lions are coming off an 18-21 overall record in 2024 but found themselves in conference play with a 10-6 CCS mark.
  • Piedmont played one of the toughest schedules in Division III last season, with nine games against Top 25 opponents.
  • Postseason play saw the Lions win their first two matchups, defeating LaGrange and Huntingdon before dropping two in a row to Maryville and Belhaven.
  • Jasmine Lowery earned All-CCS honors for the second straight season, batting .375 with 25 RBI and 12 doubles.
  • Lowery returns to anchor the lineup while Megan Steinmeyer is back to lead the pitching staff.

THE SOCIAL SCENE: BEST OF 2024

As the longest-tenured head coach on the Piedmont athletics staff, Terry Martin is entering his 27th season as head coach of the Piedmont softball program in the fall of 2024. Martin has led the Lady Lions to over 600 wins in his decorated career, eight NCAA national Tournament appearances, five conference tournament titles and 11 conference regular season championships.
