GREENSBORO, N.C. - Piedmont women's basketball stumbled in a 73-64 loss on Tuesday at host Guilford in the final game of the Springhill Suites Guilford Holiday Tournament.
Despite strong offensive performances from
Alexandria Willis and
Ava Hunter, the Lions were unable to hand the Quakers their first loss of the season.
The Lions showed life in the second half after falling behind by double digits in the early going. However, much like Monday, the late rally ran out of time in a single digit defeat.
Willis led the way offensively for Piedmont, scoring a team-high 19 points to go with a career-best 15 rebounds in just 25 minutes of action. She was efficient as well, going 5-of-6 from the field and 9-of-12 from the free throw line. Coming off the bench, Hunter was also a force, scoring 16 points in just 18 minutes to lead the Piedmont bench.
Fresh off making a season-best four three-pointers on Monday, senior guard
Brooklyn Begley made a pair of three-pointers on Tuesday.
Up next, the Lions will look to get back on the winning track at home, hosting Agnes Scott this Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 5 p.m.
