DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Piedmont men's basketball fell to Trine University in a hard fought contest 76-69.

The Lions traded blows with the Thunder throughout the first half, with the two squads matching each other overall.

Javi Marlowe led the team in the first half with nine points, with Fisher Darden chipping in with five, continuing off of a strong performance last time out. As a team the Lions went 10-11 from the free throw line, keeping them within striking distance.

The half would end with the Lions stealing the lead off of a Darden three-pointer. Piedmont carried a 31-28 lead into the locker room.

The Thunder coming out of halftime stole the lead right back with a three-pointer, but Jackson Houston kept them at bay with an early eight-point swing, including two threes. Trine kept fighting back, and thanks to a 16-7 run towards the midway point of the half, they leapt back in front. From here both squads would trade the lead back and forth.

With 2:25 left on the clock, Dylan Patrick tied the game with a layup, but that would be the last of the Lions' fight. The Thunder would go on a seven-point run to close out the game and win with the final score of 76-69.
