ATLANTA - For the second consecutive week, Piedmont women's basketball freshman
Kylie Watkins has been named the Collegiate Conference of the South Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
The Cleveland, Georgia native scored in double figures in both of Piedmont's wins over SAA foe this past weekend at home.
On Saturday against Sewanee, Watkins helped fuel an offensive explosion for the Lions in a 93-72 win over the Tigers. She scored 10 points to go with six rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block on 4-of-7 shooting.
Then, on Sunday, she was one of just two Lions in double figures as they held off Berry for a 59-57 victory, marking the 400th career win for Head Coach
Jamie Purdy. Watkins added 10 points again Sunday while pulling down five rebounds in the close win.
Up next, the Lions will be on the road this coming week, traveling to Texas to take on East Texas Baptist and Linfield. The action begins this Thursday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. against East Texas Baptist.
