Early Goals Lead Lions to 2-0 Road Win at Huntingdon

NEED TO KNOW:
Score: Piedmont 2, Huntingdon 0
Records: Piedmont, 9-4 (2-2 CCS); Huntingdon, 1-9-1 (0-4 CCS)

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Piedmont women's soccer used a pair of early goals and a stifling defense to earn a 2-0 road win at Huntingdon on Friday night in Montgomery, Alabama.

Unlike last season in which the Lions scored late at home to overtake the Hawks, this time they wasted no time in taking the early advantage.

In the game's 9th minute, a long through ball up the middle from Adriana Blumer was tracked down by Sierra Judson, who put away the only goal Piedmont needed to win the game.

This marks Judson's third goal of the season, all coming in the past two weeks.

Then, with the Hawks on their heels, the Lions took advantage just minutes later.

Paige Kluba delivered a perfectly placed left-footed cross that found the head of Taylor Crawford, who put it past the keeper to the top right of the net and gave the Lions a 2-0 lead.

From there, Piedmont played strong defense but were unable to lengthen the lead, holding the 2-0 lead for over 70 minutes until the clock hit zero.

Up next, the Lions will have one day off before hosting Johnson & Wales (N.C.) in a non-conference contest this Sunday, October 5 at 2 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
- Piedmont scored a pair of goals in the first 15 minutes of game action to run away from the Hawks.
