DEMOREST, Ga. - The No. 5 seed Piedmont University men's soccer team is set to face the No. 4 seed LaGrange Panthers in the First Round of the CCS Tournament. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
LAST TIME OUT:
The Lions ended their 2025 regular season with a resounding win against the No. 2 seeded Belhaven Blazers last Saturday. Piedmont scored three in the first half and despite allowing two second half goals the defense fought back giving a chance for
Davis Knight to score a late goal sealing the game away. The four goals marked the highest the Lions had scored since Sept. 7th against MUW. The win serves to build momentum for the upcoming tournament.
REGULAR SEASON v. THE PANTHERS:
LaGrange 3, Piedmont 3 (10/8/25)
At LaGrange this season Piedmont was able to score three on the Panthers, but LaGrange fought back in the second half, battling the Lions to a draw.
Early on the Lions utilized their speed as Juliann Pinmentel delivered a pass to
Mason Keith who put enough power on a shot to find the back of the net and score the game's first goal.
The second goal of the half came in coast-to-coast fashion as
Delroy Mattis serviced a ball from the Lions' own box, finding
Colin Vogel on the other side of the pitch in the Panthers' box. Vogel steadied and launched a shot, increasing the Lions' lead to 2-0.
The Lions wouldn't score again until the second half as in the 50th minute
Mason Keith was pushed to the corner by a Panther defender, and Keith was able to turn and set a beautiful cross to
Colin Vogel, who leapt through the air, heading the ball towards the back of the net for a picturesque goal.
Piedmont looked to be on cruise control, but the Panthers answered back with two scoring headers, cutting the Lions' lead to just one. The final Panther goal would come off a crucial foul in the Lions' box setting up for the eventual game tying PK.
The two squads battled hard throughout and showed their evenly matched tenacity.
