DANVILLE, Ky. - The Piedmont University track & field program saw a pair of school records fall on Saturday at the Centre Indoor Showcase in the 300m.
Silas Goolsby won the event with a school record 35.42 in the men's 300m while
Allison Cantrell ran a 45.05 to set the school record coming in 6th in the women's 300m.
There were several additional personal bests set on Saturday including
Matthew Blocksom in the men's shot put (11.89m),
Ian Grimes in the men's weight throw (8.68m) and
Allison Cantrell in the women's 60m (8.37 - in prelims) and women's 300m.
Across the field events, many improved upon impressive marks to begin the season last week including
Johnny Taylor with a 12.23m mark in the men's triple jump. In the pole vault,
Haley McLeer improved with a 2.55m coming in ninth overall and
Tucker Pulliam bested his season-opening mark with a 3.00m. Both
Kayla Ward (10.61m) and
Allie Feltus (8.89m) posted longer distances in the shot put in the second week of competition as well.
Up next, the Lions will be at the Sewanee Tiger Indoor Open on Saturday, February 1 in Tennessee.
