WILMORE, Ky. - In what was a 3-point shootout, the Piedmont men's basketball team was bested by Asbury 89-70 on the road Saturday. Asbury totaled 17 3-pointers in the contest to Piedmont's 10.

The first four baskets from the floor all came from behind the arc beginning the electric night for the Eagles. The two teams were nearly going basket-for-basket over the opening 10 minutes of play, but over a four and a half minute stretch that followed, Asbury reeled off a 19-8 run.

The Eagles were 5-of-6 from 3-point range during that run as Asbury's Cam Jones accounted for all five of those 3-pointers while Piedmont was 3-of-8 from the field.

Piedmont was able to battle back late in the half and trailed just 41-38 at the break. To open the second half, however, Asbury went on a 10-0 run to race back out to a 13 point lead and never surrendered it in the second half.

The Lions cut the lead to as few as seven in the opening minutes of the second half, but Asbury led by as many as 20 with 12:58 to play and maintained a double digit lead the rest of the way.

Javi Marlowe led the Lions with 15 points while Bailey Wiseman added 10. Asbury had four athletes in double figures led by Luke Imfeld who scored a game-high 26 points.

Next, the Lions are on the road at Belhaven on Saturday, February 1.

TURNING POINT:
- Asbury used a 10-0 run out of the break in the second half to set the tone and keep the Lions at bay.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Javi Marlowe led the Lions with his 15 points and five rebounds as just two Lions were in double figures.

NEWS AND NOTES:
- The Eagles were electric from behind the arc as they were 17-of-32 for the game shooting 53%.
