MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Piedmont volleyball team was not able to steal a set on Saturday dropping a pair of contests to Averett and Berry 3-0.

Match one: Averett 3, Piedmont 0

Against Averett, the Lions looked to be challenging early dropping the opening set 26-24, forcing extra points, but that was not sustained through the match. 

After such promise in the first set, the Lions fell in the second set 25-11 and 25-15 in the third. 

Piedmont posted 21 kills to Averett's 34 with Jessica Sconyers leading the Lions with seven kills. 

Match two: Berry 3, Piedmont 0

The Lions struggled early against Berry with just five points in the opening set but managed 16 in both the second and third sets. 

Berry totaled 43 kills to Piedmont's 11 as Katie Hubbard had a team-high four in the match. 

The Vikings had an impressive .447 attack percentage for the match including a dominant .619 attack percentage in the opening set. 

Up next, the Lions will have the home opener on Thursday, September 19 against Bob Jones at 7 p.m.
