SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

  • Piedmont opened the 2024 season at home, hosting a trio of different opponents across Opening Weekend.
  • The Lions grabbed their first win of the season over Cal Lutheran behind a three RBI day from senior Kara Taylor at the plate. In the circle, starter Riley Ford tossed seven innings of six hit softball.
  • Piedmont followed it up the next day with a big win over Mount Saint Joseph. Blowing the contests open with a five-run sixth inning, Taylor once again finished the day with 3 RBI while sophomore Heartly Nepveux also had 3 RBI.
  • After a rough stretch of the season, where the Lions won just two of their 11 games, Piedmont turned their season around with a 10 game win streak.
  • Opening CCS play with back-to-back run rule wins over Berea, the momentum carried over as Piedmont went on to sweep Agnes Scott in the next two contests.
  • Wesleyan fought hard to end the streak at 4, narrowly besting the Lions in the first game of the series. Piedmont clawed to a 1-0 win in Game 1 before run ruling the Wolves in Game 2.
    • Wesleyan outhit the Lions in Game 1, 7-5, and the lone RBI came on a Megan Steinmeyer sac fly.
  • More heroics were required as Piedmont welcomed St. Olaf to Demorest. Sophomore Madi Cronic walked-off Game 1 to complete the comeback after the Oles took the lead 6-5 in the top half of the seventh.
  • Earning the No. 4 seed in the CCS Tournament, Piedmont traveled to No. 1 seed and host Huntingdon.
  • The Lions narrowly escaped the opening round against No. 5 LaGrange, walking off the Panthers in extra innings.
    • Reliever Summer McCranie pitched a 1-2-3 top of the eight before Madi Cronic launched a game-winning RBI sac fly.
  • Piedmont then sent shockwaves through the CCS, taking down No. 1 Huntingdon the next day.
    • Megan Steinmeyer silenced the nationally-ranked Huntingdon offense while Piedmont posted eight hits and took advantage of three Hawks blunders.
  • The magical run came to an end with a loss to No. 3 Maryville and a loss to No. 2 Belhaven shortly after.
