Match 1: Piedmont 9, Belhaven 0
After the Senior Day festivities were concluded, the Lions took care of business on the court. With Belhaven only having five available players, the Lions took a 1-0 lead before a point was played. Then, it was a dominant performance in doubles to make it 3-0. First,
Abbey Grace Venham and
Bri Laidman cruised to an 8-1 victory at No. 1 before seniors
Dannie Evans and
Brook Patton won 8-4 at No. 2.
The Blazers forfeited No. 6 singles, so the Lions needed just one singles line to clinch the match. That win came in the form of
Mia Vasher, playing in her final home match. Vasher cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at No. 5.
Â
From there, the Lions continued to play solid across all lines, dropping just five total games across the five singles matches that were contested.
Marion Sloyan picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 while
Dakota Wilkes finished her perfect regular season in singles 16-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2.
After already having set the Piedmont season record for singles wins,
Alyssa McSpadden did not drop a game in a win at No. 3. Rounding things out, sophomore
Sarah Row won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4.
Match 2: Piedmont 9, Belhaven 0
Rolling right in to match two of the day, the Lions saw a different group of players achieve the same result. In the two contested doubles matches, Piedmont delivered a pair of 8-1 wins.
Kenzie Imsand and Vasher won at No. 1 while Sloyan and freshman
Olivia Carpenter did the same at No. 2.
For the second straight match, the clinch was produced at No. 5 singles, this time from
Lizzie Ivey, who cruised 6-0, 6-0.Â
Also for the second straight match, the Lions lost just five singles games across the five matches.Â
Jordan Ballard dropped just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1. Then, it was the freshmen who closed it out, as Imsand (6-1, 6-1 at No. 2),
Daisha Thompson (6-1, 6-0 at No. 4) and
Drea Robinson (6-0, 6-1 at No. 3) completed the shutout for the day.
Up next, the Lions will take on the CCS Conference Tournament, looking to three-peat as conference tournament champions, and repeat in the CCS.
