MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Piedmont women's lacrosse team blew past USA South opponent Huntingdon with a dominant 22-3 win Tuesday. The Lions put the game out of reach early, posting ten first period goals on the Hawks.
It was all Piedmont from the beginning, with the Lions going on an 11-0 run before the Hawks found the back of the net. The run included ten first period goals as Piedmont invoked the running clock early. By the time the run came to an end, junior
Ava Trankina had already scored four goals and five other Lions had put in goals.
The lone Hawks goal in the first half did little to break the Piedmont momentum as they trailed 13-1 heading into the half. Trankina scored four first half goals while junior
Aly Reece had four assists.
The third period mirrored the first as the Lions offense once again came out firing. Six goals in the period pushed the lead to 19-1. Senior
Maggi Spratlin and sophomore
Carson Bezold both completed hat tricks in the period.
With the contest out of reach, Piedmont coasted through the final period of play, taking home the 22-3 win.
Up next, Piedmont will travel to Clemson University for a neutral site contest against Randolph-Macon on Thursday, April 4.
