DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont men's tennis team remained undefeated in league play with a sweep of LaGrange 9-0 on Monday. The Lions cruised in doubles dropping just one game across all three lines and dropped just eight games total in the match.

Freshmen Mark Backeberg and Rohan Kavali teamed up at No. 1 doubles for the first time in competition and won 8-0 as did Mike Porcelli and Charles Parnell at No. 3. Porcelli and Parnell moved to 5-1 on the season together. 

At No. 2, Connor Phelps and Yannick Wassmer Navarro took a 4-0 lead before dropping the only game and moving on to an 8-1 win. The win marked the seventh of the season for the duo which leads all doubles pairings this season. 

With a convincing 3-0 lead heading into singles, Porcelli won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 to set up Mark Backeberg for the clinch at No. 2, 6-1, 6-1. Backeberg went up 2-0 before conceding a game in the first set and went up 4-0 before finishing the job 6-1 again in the second set. 

With the win secured, Parnell won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 while Kavali and Phelps left no doubt with straight set wins at No. 5 & No. 4, respectively. Rounding out the sweep, Kody Dills won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 to seal the 9-0 win. 

Up next, the Lions will face Covenant on Saturday, April 6 at 2:30 p.m. at home.

TURNING POINT:
--Piedmont left no doubt winning all three doubles matches in impressive fashion. 

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--Mike Porcelli, Connor Phelps and Rohan Kavali all won in straight sets in singles.
