DEMOREST, Ga. - Piedmont women's tennis returned to action for the first time in two weeks and delivered a resounding 9-0 defeat of LaGrange on a cloudy Monday afternoon in Demorest.
The Lions were perfect, not losing a single game across the two doubles lines and four singles lines that were contested on Monday.
With the Panthers having only four available players, Piedmont won by default at No. 3 doubles to lead 1-0 before a point was played. Then, it was a dominating effort at No. 2 doubles from
Bri Laidman and
Hollan Rabensdorf, followed by more of the same from two-time CCS Doubles Team of the Week
Dannie Evans and
Brook Patton at No. 1.
Â
The win from Evans and Patton effectively clinched the match for the Lions, as LaGrange forfeited No. 5 and No. 6 singles due to only having four players.
With a 5-0 lead and the win in hand before singles was contested, Piedmont never let up, winning all four singles lines by a 6-0, 6-0 margin.
Marion Sloyan picked up the win at No. 1 while
Dakota Wilkes moved her dual singles record this season to 11-0 with a win at No. 2.
Alyssa McSpadden rolled at No. 3 while
Mia Vasher concluded the festivities with a victory at No. 4.
Up next, the Lions will play a doubleheader this Saturday, April 6. Piedmont will welcome No. 5 Emory for a 9:30 a.m. match before taking on Covenant at 2:30 p.m. in a critical CCS battle.
