CENTRAL, S.C - The Piedmont University track and field program sent a group of throwers to compete at the Gotta Run Invite, hosted by Southern Wesleyan University on Friday. The meet was highlighted by senior Cortney Brown winning the women's javelin event with a distance of 33.28m.

In addition to the win, junior Allie Feltus claimed the runner-up spot in the women's discus with a second place toss of 36.66m. Freshman Shealee Gallegos also placed top five in the event, tossing a career best 35.30m for fifth.

In the men's shot put, sophomore Kerrigan McClain claimed ninth place with a best distance of 11.16m.

Reigning CCS Field Athlete of the Week Nakiyah Washington continued her strong season, claiming third in the women's discus and women's shot put at the meet. Washington tossed 36.36m in the discus and 11.73m in the shot put with both distances being career bests. She also secured tenth place in the women's hammer (35.71m).

Freshman Ethan Butler-Paige placed tenth in the men's javelin toss, recording a best throw of 38.32m. Fellow freshman Kayla Ward also grabbed a top ten finish in the women's shot put with a best throw of 10.44m, placing her ninth.
