DECATUR, Ga. - The Piedmont University softball team dominated Agnes Scott Thursday afternoon, taking both contests from the Scotties. Piedmont ended the first game in just five innings while only allowing four hits in the second game.

GAME 1 - Piedmont 15, Agnes Scott 1 (F/5)

It was all Piedmont in Game 1 as the Lions came out swinging in the first. Piedmont posted a nine-spot in the frame, starting with back-to-back doubles from Maddi Spieks and Heartly Nepveux. The onslaught continued as the lineup nearly batted around before the Scotties found the first out of the inning. By the time the third out was recorded, Piedmont tallied eight hits and nine runs on one Agnes Scott error.

The offense continued to click, adding another run in the third off a Madi Cronic solo home run and four more runs on five hits in the fourth. Kara Taylor led off the inning with a single and pinch-runner Kaylee Wilson stole second with one out. Megan Steinmeyer took advantage of the runner in scoring position and launched a one-out RBI double. Kaitlin Isley then singled to center for an RBI and with two outs in the inning, Spieks collected her third RBI on the day with a single to center.

In their final frame at the dish, Isley collected her fourth RBI in the game and moved the Piedmont lead to 15-1. Lions starter Megan Steinmeyer closed the show in the bottom of the fifth, capping off five complete innings, allowing just one run on three hits with four strikeouts to her name.

GAME 2 - Piedmont 9, Agnes Scott 3

Piedmont started the second contest in similar fashion to the first, scoring seven runs in the first frame. Jordan Green singled with one out in the inning and Kara Taylor launched a two-run home run in the next at-bat. With one runner on and two away, Kaitlin Isley, Madi Cronic, Hannah Callaway and Kennedy Votava all strung together singles, pushing three runs across. A Scotties error directly after aided the Lions in securing two more runs in the inning as they took a 7-0 lead into the bottom of the first.

Agnes Scott found some momentum shortly after, holding the Lions scoreless in the second and third while scoring two runs of their own. However, the momentum was short lived as Piedmont responded in the top of the fourth. Jasmine Lowery scored Maddi Spieks on a sac fly for the first run of the inning and Megan Steinmeyer scored Kara Taylor on an RBI single to left.

Lions reliever Taylor Spivey went on to allow just one run in the fifth inning before ending the game in the bottom of the seventh after 5.1 innings of work. She allowed just two hits and struck out one.
