JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Piedmont University track and field program traveled to the University of North Florida for the Bob Hayes Collegiate Invitational this past weekend. The Lions faced strong competition as multiple NCAA divisions were represented at the meet.
Junior
Garrett Stadler and sophomore
Silas Goolsby showed out at the meet, recording multiple top ten finishes. In the men's 110m hurdles, Goolsby placed third with a time of 15.22 while Stadler turned in a 15.80 for sixth place. Stadler then placed second in the men's 400m hurdles with a 55.07 as Goolsby placed four places behind in sixth (57.59). In the high jump, Stadler placed fifth with a best height of 1.85m.
In the women's 400m hurdles, sophomore
Michelle Cates placed tenth with a time of 1:10.04.
Senior
Chris Donsereaux turned in a fourth place finish in the men's 100m dash, finishing in 11.04. Fellow senior
Kai Doyle placed eighth in the women's 400m with a time of 1:04.04.
In the men's pole vault, senior
Wes Rogers placed seventh after recording a best height of 3.50m.
Freshman
Kayla Ward moved into fourth all-time in Piedmont history in the women's shot put. Her distance of 10.74m also placed her tenth at the meet.
Junior
Allie Feltus also had a great meet, recording two top-ten finishes. She placed seventh in the women's discus with a best distance of 37.81m and placed eighth in the women's hammer (37.25m). Freshman
Shealee Gallegos placed directly behind Feltus in the hammer with a 36.40m, putting her eighth all-time in school history.
Moving up in school history,
Kerrigan McClain tossed 11.65m in the men's shot put for third place in the Piedmont record books.
Placing third at the meet, senior
Cortney Brown tossed 34.21m in the women's javelin. On the men's side, Piedmont took seventh, ninth and tenth in the javelin toss. Freshman
Ethan Butler-Paige claimed seventh (43.41m), junior
Tucker Cox placed (39.77m) and freshman
Tucker Pulliam grabbed tenth (33.62m).
Up next, both programs travel to Atlanta for the Emory Thrills in the Hills starting on Friday, March 22.
