DEMOREST, Ga. - On senior day, the Piedmont men's basketball team rose to the occasion with an 81-65 win over Berea to conclude the regular season. The win is the sixth straight for the Lions and fifth straight in CCS play to move them to .500 in conference play.
Piedmont was hot out of the gate and kept the Mountaineers at bay, racing ahead to a 22-5 start over the first eight minutes. The Lions led by as many as 26 in the first half with a 45-23 advantage at the break.
Berea scored the first eight out of halftime, but Piedmont did not let the lead get under double-digits until the 8:48 mark when a 3-pointer for the Mountaineers made it 56-47.
The Lions quickly built the lead back after back-to-back 3-pointers by
Joe Helenbrook and
Ryan Jolly. Piedmont left no doubt down the stretch extending the lead back to as many as 20.
Up next, the Lions await postseason play in the CCS tournament.
