SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Piedmont men's basketball completed the second Division I exhibition of the season taking on USC Upstate Wednesday on the road.
Although the Lions battled in the early going, the Spartans were able to pull away in the late stages of the first half and held that extensive lead throughout the second half, coming away with a 103-70 in a game that counted for them, but did not for Piedmont.
The Lions challenged early in the first seven minutes of play, leading 13-11 at one point. However, USC Upstate begin to pull away throughout the later stages of the opening half, taking a 50-31 lead to the break with a 39-18 run.
Bailey Wiseman led the Lions, scoring 13 points while BSC transfer
Dylan Patrick reached double figures with 11 points. Overall, nine different players from Piedmont scored in the contest.
The Lions won the turnover battle, coughing it up just 13 times while forcing 16 Spartan turnovers.
Up next, the Lions will officially begin the 2024-25 season on Saturday, November 16 at home against Johnson & Wales.
