WILMORE, Ky. - Piedmont men's soccer saw its 2024 season come to an end on Wednesday night, falling 5-1 at Asbury in the CCS Tournament First Round.
Although the Lions were able to answer the Eagles' first goal of the contest, the momentum was short lived, with Asbury scoring four unanswered goals to run away with the win.
This marks the second consecutive season in which the Lions have fallen in the CCS Tournament First Round.
The five goals marks the most the Lions have allowed in a game all season.
With the game scoreless in the 30th minute, Asbury found the back of the net first, as Salat Kiperit scored off an assist from Jon Gordon.
However, the Lions answered back quickly, taking advantage of a quick throw in opportunity as All-CCS First Team honoree
Davis Knight found space and beat the last defender and the keeper with a strike to even the score at 1-1 in the 35th minute.
Unfortunately, just over four minutes later, a long through ball from Asbury punched a hole in the Piedmont back line and the Eagles' Nick Eller converted the chance to make it 2-1.
From there, the Eagles continued to add on goals, scoring three more times in the second half to leave no doubt.
Piedmont concludes the season with a 7-9-2 record.
