DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont women's soccer team cruised to a 4-0 victory on Wednesday over LaGrange to move to 5-1-1 in CCS play.
The Lions took advantage of a quick start scoring in the sixth minute to set the tone for the contest as
Alison Witkiewicz sent a powerful shot from 27 yards out that Anna Wright was unable to corral.
Piedmont was quick on the draw making it 2-0 as
Sierra Judson scored in the 10th minute finding the bottom left corner of the net.
Paige Kluba had a shot deflected with Judson in the right place at the right time to bury the second effort and give Piedmont a two-goal lead.
Hannah Thompson made a pair of back-to-back saves on LaGrange's best opportunities in the first half in the 28th and 30th minutes as she posted two saves on six shots in the first half.
The Lions were not done scoring in the first half as
Madison Johnson joined the party in the 40th minute finding the top right corner from just outside the 18, getting past an outstretched Wright in goal.
After a relatively quiet second half, Piedmont did tack on another goal with
Taylor Crawford putting it away on an assist by
Peyton Gates.
Up next, the Lions will host Maryville on Friday at 6:30 p.m. for senior night at the WAC.

Hannah Thompson recorded five saves in the shutout as the only goalkeeper in the net for the Lions.
