MACON, Ga. - The Piedmont volleyball team earned its first victory of the season on the road in conference play Wednesday with a 3-0 sweep of Wesleyan.
The Lions jumped out to a hot start taking the first set 25-9 to set the tone. Piedmont led 7-0, but Wesleyan clawed back to an 11-8 deficit. From there, Piedmont used a 14-1 run to claim the set.
Wesleyan trailed by just two, 13-11, in the second set but could not keep pace with the Lions who claimed the second set 25-14.
In the third, the Wolves stayed within striking distance but were unable to close the gap in a 25-16 win for the Lions.
The win marks the first of the season as the Lions sit at 1-2 in league play.
In the win, Piedmont posted its best attack percentage of the season with a .198.
Up next, Piedmont returns home to Cave Arena for a tri-match Saturday hosting LaGrange and Covenant.

Katie Hubbard led the Lions with 12 kills, a season-high for the junior.

Vanessa Manzo led Piedmont with 25 assists while also posting a team-high three blocks.
