Overall, the Lions competed in 61 total singles matches and 17 doubles matches over the two days against players from Truett McConnell, Brenau, Huntingdon, Brevard, Maryville and Methodist.

Piedmont saw 21 players compete on the weekend with 13 picking up multiple singles wins.

Six different Lions picked up their first career collegiate singles wins, led by a perfect 3-0 singles record from Drea Robinson.

Fellow newcomer Kenzie Imsand won a marathon match (5-7, 6-3, 10-7) in her first action as a Lion, overcoming falling in the first set and prevailing in the third-set super breaker.

Abby Gayle Moody and Olivia Carpenter also made strong debuts for the Lions, combining to go 5-0 in singles action.

Veteran standouts of the two-time defending conference champs were also able to shake off the rust and get back into competition mode.

Abbey Grace Venham and Alyssa McSpadden each delivered a 2-1 record in singles play, losing only to opponents from Brenau over the weekend.

Sophomores Amanda Barrett (3-0) and Lizzie Ivey (2-0) were also undefeated in singles action to add to the strong showing from Piedmont.

Upperclassmen Dannie Evans (3-0) and Anna Lassiter (3-0) also delivered perfect weekends in singles competition.

The conclusion of doubles play was canceled as inclement weather moved into the area on Saturday evening. However, the Lions still accumulated nine victories, led by two from the duo of Barrett and freshman Daisha Thompson.

Up next, the Lions will head to Montgomery, Alabama to take part in the Huntingdon Invitational, beginning this Friday, September 15-16.
