Season Recap: Women's Track & Field 2023

  • Piedmont’s women’s track and field program made history, winning the first ever CCS Championship behind a stellar team performance.
  • In total, the Lady Lions set 9 new program records during the 2023 season with 5 coming during the indoor season and another 4 during the outdoor season.
  • Senior Jaycie Ponce broke 6 records on her own, including some she had previously set.
    • Ponce also participated in breaking the team relay record during the season.
  • Highlighted by 10 event wins, Piedmont saw 24 podium finishes for the program as they soundly won the CCS title.
  • Junior Cortney Brown and sophomore Allie Feltus were named USTFCCCA Outdoor All-Region for their efforts during the 2023 season.
  • Head Coach Jamie Jimison won CCS Coach of the Year for his hard work and development of the program.

  • Piedmont competed in six different meets during the indoor season, finding success in all of them.
  • Senior Jaycie Ponce led the charge during the majority of the indoor season, breaking the 800m, 3000m and women's mile records.
  • The team of Ponce, Bella Caccamo, LeeAnn Lawrence, and Anna Gibson also broke the women's DMR record.
  • Junior Kai Doyle also had a strong start to the indoor season, breaking the school record in the women's 500m just two meets into the season.

  • The outdoor season began on a high note for Senior Jaycie Ponce as she broke the program record in the women's 1500m in the first meet of the season.
  • Following the SWU Gotta Run Invite, Junior Cortney Brown earned the first CCS weekly honor for the program, being named Field Athlete of the Week.
  • Freshman Whitney Darsey followed Brown the next week by earning the same award, CCS Field Athlete of the Week.
  • Ponce and Brown continued their roll, breaking school records at the Berry Field Day.
    • Ponce once again shattered the 1500m record while Brown set the new Javelin program record.
    • Both earned CCS weekly honors for their efforts at the meet.
  • At the CCS Championship, Piedmont excelled when they needed it the most. The Lady Lions won 10 different events, with Ponce picking up three wins, Michelle Cates grabbing two and five others winning their events.
  • A total of 14 Lady Lions eared All-Conference honors as either individuals or as relay team members.
  • Head Coach Jamie Jimison was named CCS Coach of the Year for his work with the programs.
