DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont University women's lacrosse team eliminated Pfeiffer in the USA South Quarterfinals by a score of 18-9. Piedmont played with a comfortable lead for the majority of the contest.
The Lady Lions jumped out to a massive lead in the first period and never looked back.
MERRYN BUMPASS and
CLARA WELCH opened the contest with back to back goals before the Falcons found their first.
MAGGI SPRATLIN then scored her first before Pfeiffer brought the contest back within one.
From there, Piedmont went on a six goal run with
LOVETTE CHOLOH making the contest 9-2 just minutes into the 2nd period. The Lady Lions defense locked down the Falcons offense in the period as well, allowing just one goal in the time frame.
With a 13-3 Piedmont lead, the Falcons attempted to rally back into the game with a trio of goals but a Piedmont timeout followed by an
AVA TRANKINA goal ended all the momentum as Piedmont continued to pull away.
The Lady Lions closed out the contest in dominant fashion, 18-9.
TURNING POINT:
-- The Piedmont defense allowed just 1 goal in the second period while the offense stretched the lead to 10.

AVA TRANKINA recorded a hat trick, secured 5 draw controls and added 4 assists in the contest.
