CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Piedmont University track and field team competed at the Lee University Last Chance meet this past Saturday. The select athletes that competed intended to improve their season best distances and times in order to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships at the end of May.
In the women's hammer toss,
ALLIE FELTUS launched a 40.69m distance to set a new personal best. The distance also moved her up the list in the history books into third all time in the category. Feltus also placed 9th at the event in the women's discus (36.90m).
The field events success continued as
ETHAN JACKSON recorded a personal best in men's discus (39.20m). The distance earned him a 10th place finish at the event. Jackson has been on a roll over the past two weeks, winning the CCS Championship in the hammer throw and placing 3rd in the discus at that event.
Freshman
SILAS GOOLSBY set a new personal best in the 110m hurdles, running a time of 15.42. Goolsby won the CCS Championship with a 15.57 a few weeks back and now adds an even faster time to his name.
Up next, the Lions have one event left on the schedule, taking a trip down to Emory University for the Emory Final Qualifier on Wednesday, May 17.
