DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont University softball team dropped their final home series of the year to CCS competitor Belhaven. Despite two great pitching performances from EMMA MCBRAYER and RILEY FORD, the Lady Lions offense was unable to generate the run support needed.

GAME 1 - Piedmont 0, Belhaven 4

With EMMA MCBRAYER in the circle, the Belhaven offense was held in check for the majority of the game. She worked out of trouble in the early innings of the game to keep the Lady Lions in the contest. However, the Blazers finally broke through in the 4th inning with a pair of two out hits to score the first run.

Piedmont attempted to respond in the bottom of the 4th, loading the bases in the inning but were unable to manufacture any runs.

Belhaven put the game out of reach in the top of the 7th, plating three runs in the inning. The Lady Lions mustered a small rally but failed to make anything of it. They registered just three hits in the contest off Belhaven starter Kennedy Carruth.

GAME 2 - Piedmont 1, Belhaven 2

The Blazers once again sent Kennedy Carruth out to the circle while Piedmont turned to RILEY FORD to silence the opposition.

Similar to McBrayer, Ford was electric through the first three innings, holding Belhaven to zero hits. In the 4th inning, Belhaven finally broke through with two hits and a run.

Piedmont continued to hang on, finally breaking the scoreless streak in the bottom of the 6th. Following KAITLIN ISLEY reaching on an error, KARA TAYLOR crushed a double into left, scoring Isley and tying the game.

The 1-1 contest was short lived as the Blazers quickly responded in the top of the 7th, scoring the go ahead run. Piedmont went quietly in the home half of the inning and the contest finished 2-1.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- KARA TAYLOR went 1-3 with the lone RBI in Game 2.
- RILEY FORD threw 7 innings of 5 hit softball, giving up just 2 runs with 10 strikeouts.

UP NEXT:
- Piedmont heads back out on the road to finish out the year, starting with a non-conference series against Berry on Tuesday, April 11.
