ROME, Ga. - The Piedmont University softball team dropped a doubleheader against a tough Berry squad in Rome on Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Lions were held scoreless in both contests as the offense struggled to find success.

GAME 1 - Piedmont 0, Berry 6

Piedmont fell behind early in game one as the Vikings scored in the first frame. Starter EMMA MCBRAYER fell into trouble with two on and one out in the inning, allowing two hits as Berry went up 2-0.

The Lady Lions attempted to respond in the top of the second. A pair of singles from HANNAH MORGAN and McBrayer coupled with a Vikings error put runners in scoring position with just one out. However, they were unable to plate a run and the contest remained tied.

Piedmont again had multiple runners on in the 5th but falied to score in the inning.

Berry tacked on four runs late in the 6th to secure the 6-0 contest.

GAME 2 - Piedmont 0, Berry 2

In game two, starter RILEY FORD went to work, allowing just four hits through the first three innings. However, the Piedmont offense was also held in check throughout the first three frames.

Berry finally broke through in the fourth, scoring the only two runs of the contest.

Piedmont attempted to climb back in the contest late, recording a hit in the final three innings but was unable to score a run.

The contest closed 2-0 in favor of the Vikings.
