MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Piedmont University softball team dropped both contests against the Huntingdon Hawks Saturday afternoon. The Lady Lions offense was shutout in Game 1 while Huntingdon pulled away late in Game 2.Â
GAME 1 - Piedmont 0, Huntingdon 4
The Piedmont offense was held in check for all seven innings in the first contest as they found just four hits.
The Hawks were seeing the ball well early off Piedmont starter
EMMA MCBRAYER, plating all four runs in the 1st inning. McBrayer settled in for the remainder of the contest, allowing no more runs to cross but the damage had been done.
The Piedmont offense had their best chance to get back into the contest in the 5th, as they strung together a pair of two out hits from
KENNEDY VOTAVA and
LYNDZI PARTLOWÂ but were unable to score either runner.Â
The contest closed 4-0 in favor of Huntingdon.
GAME 2 - Piedmont 3, Huntingdon 10
The Lady Lions offense opened the scoring in Game 2, scoring in the top of the 1st.
JASMINE LOWERY led off the game with a single, advanced to second on a SAC bunt from
KAITLIN ISLEYÂ and moved to third on a
KARA TAYLOR single.
EMMA MCBRAYERÂ drove home Lowery with a single to center and Piedmont took a 1-0 lead.Â
Piedmont's lead was short lived, as the Hawks scored five runs in the bottom of the 1st.Â
Scoring in the 3rd and 6th, Piedmont fought to stay in the contest, bringing a 5-3 score line into the home half of the 6th. However, the Hawks once again scored five runs, breaking the contest wide open. The Lady Lions went quietly in the top of the 7th and Game 2 finished 10-3 Huntingdon.

KARA TAYLOR went 3-4 with an RBI in Game 2.
