Game 1 Score: Piedmont 11, LaGrange 2
Game 2 Score: Piedmont 11, LaGrange 1 (F/5)
Records: Piedmont, 23-12 (10-4); LaGrange, 11-19 (5-7)

LAGRANGE, Ga. - The Piedmont University softball team battled hard to pull off a much needed sweep over LaGrange late Sunday afternoon. The Lady Lions came from behind in Game 1 and ran away with the contest late while jumping out in front early in Game 2.

GAME 1 - Piedmont 11, LaGrange 2

Piedmont struck first in the top of the 2nd with two outs and two on. JASMINE LOWERY doubled home KENNEDY VOTAVA giving her squad some early momentum.

LaGrange struck back in the bottom of the 4th, finally breaking through against Piedmont starter EMMA MCBRAYER, who had given up just two hits up until the inning. The Panthers strung together three hits in the inning, scoring two runs and taking a 2-1 lead into the 5th.

The bats came to life for Piedmont in the 5th as the team rallied for a three spot in the inning. The offense was far from done as the Lady Lions tacked on five more runs in the 6th and piled on the insurance in the 7th in the form of three additional runs.

McBrayer settled right back in after the 4th, allowing just three more hits for the Panthers offense and closing out the complete game win 11-2.

GAME 2 - Piedmont 11, LaGrange 1 (F/5)

The Lady Lions wasted no time in Game 2, jumping out to a solid lead in the first pair of innings. They struck for two in the 1st and a run in the 2nd to take a 3-0 lead into the 3rd.

Trying to cut into the lead, the Panthers manufactured their first run of the contest in the bottom of the 4th, finally cracking Piedmont starter RILEY FORD who had worked out of trouble in earlier frames.

The 3-1 scoreline only stood temporarily as the Piedmont offense exploded for eight runs in the top half of the 5th inning. The inning started with a KARA TAYLOR double to left, an EMMA MCBRAYER single and a MADISON HENRY single and continued to snowball into a massive inning for the Lady Lions. By the time the inning concluded, Piedmont recorded eight runs on six hits and capitalized on three LaGrange mistakes.

With the damage completed and the score line 11-1, Ford closed the show in the bottom of the 5th as Piedmont picked up a second huge win on the day.
