JACKSON, Miss. – The Piedmont University softball team dropped their upper bracket contest against Belhaven 8-4. The Lady Lions have one life left as they drop to the lower bracket for a rematch with Covenant.

Piedmont drew first blood in the contest, manufacturing a run in the top of the 1^st. JASMINE LOWERY led off the game with a single and advanced to second on a SAC bunt from KENNEDY VOTAVA. From there, KARA TAYLOR blasted a double off the wall, scoring Lowery.

Belhaven answered in the same frame, tying the contest 1-1 headed into the 2^nd. 

MADISON HENRY put the Lady Lions back in front in the top of the 2^nd, launching a no doubt solo shot to put her squad back in front 2-1. 

The lead was short lived for Piedmont as Belhaven put up a big inning in the 4^th. Chasing starter EMMA MCBRAYER, the Blazers dropped a four spot in the inning. The damage continued as two more runs crossed for the Blazers in the 5^th and a lone run in the 6^th.

Piedmont attempted a late rally in the 7^th as KARA TAYLOR recorded a two RBI single, but the game concluded 8-4 Belhaven.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- KARA TAYLOR went 3-4 with 3 RBIs.
- MADISON HENRY went 1-3 with a solo homerun.

UP NEXT: 
- The Lady Lions moved to the lower bracket for a win or go home contest against the winner of Covenant and Wesleyan later in the day.
