ROME, Ga. - The Piedmont women's tennis team continued its winning ways on Thursday afternoon, rolling past LaGrange in a 5-0 sweep in the CCS Tournament Quarterfinals in Rome.

Due to rainy conditions, all matches on Thursday were moved indoors. Playing a clinch format in the single elimination tournament, the Lady Lions dispatched the Panthers in just over an hour, losing just one total game across three doubles lines and then quickly nabbing two singles wins to end the match.

The No. 3 doubles team of DAKOTA WILKES and MARION SLOYAN got things started with an 8-1 victory at No. 3 before Alyssa McS;adden and ABBEY GRACE VENHAM delivered a clinical 8-0 win at No. 2 to make it 2-0 in favor of Piedmont.

Minutes later, the No. 1 team of BRI LAIDMAN and IMANI VINCENT also polished off a perfect 8-0 victory to complete the doubles sweep and make it 3-0 Lions heading into singles.

Needing just two points to clinch the match, Piedmont received them in short order as Sloyan rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 to put the Lions a point away from clinching.

It then became a race to see who sealed the match, with DANNIE EVANS polishing off a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 as MIA VASHER had match point at No. 3.

In the four matches that went unfinished, the Lady Lions had won the first set in all of them and had significant second-set advantages as well.

This marks Piedmont's fifth consecutive conference tournament semifinals appearance.

Up next, the Lady Lions will await their opponent for the semifinals as they will face off against the winner of No. 4 seed Huntingdon and No. 5 seed Belhaven.

TURNING POINT:
- Piedmont turned a dominant doubles performance into a quick 5-0 win to move past the Panthers.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Sloyan put the first doubles point of the match on the board and the first singles point of the match on the board in a 2-0 day for the junior.

NEWS AND NOTES:
- Piedmont picked up 9-0 wins in the regular season against both Huntingdon and Belhaven.
