JACKSON, Miss. – The Piedmont University softball team bested No. 5 Covenant in the first round of the Collegiate Conference of the South tournament behind an explosion of offense in the 3
rd inning.
Covenant struck first against starter
MEGAN STEINMEYER with a two-run blast in the top of the 1
st.
Piedmont responded in the bottom of the second with a two-run bomb of their own off the bat of
LYNDZI PARTLOW to tie the contest 2-2.
The offense came to life in the 3rd, blowing the game wide open. The Lions put up seven runs behind five hits and a pair of hit by pitches.
JASMINE LOWERY,
KENNEDY VOTAVA,
HANNAH MORGAN,
RILEY FORD and
HANNAH SMITH all recorded hits during the big inning.
From there, the Lions scored one last run in the bottom of the 5
th, ending the contest in a five-inning run rule.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:

RILEY FORD tossed 3 innings of 3 hit softball.

HANNAH MORGAN went 2-3 with 3 RBIs.

LYNDZI PARTLOW went 2-3 with a two-run home run.

HANNAH SMITH went 2-3 with 2 runs.

KARA TAYLOR went 2-3 with 2 RBI's.
