JACKSON, Miss. - The Piedmont women's tennis team clinched the outright Collegiate Conference of the South Regular Season Title with a 9-0 sweep at Belhaven on Saturday afternoon.

The win gives the Lady Lions their fifth consecutive undefeated conference regular season and also their fifth consecutive regular season conference title. Overall, Piedmont has won 36 consecutive regular season conference matches.

Like many of the team's prior matches this season, the outcome was not in doubt from tjhe beginning, as the Lions took advantage of two forfeited lines, and then dominated on the courts that were contested.

After winning by default at No. 3 doubles, Piedmont cruised to a pair of 8-1 victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. BRI LAIDMAN and IMANI VINCENT picked up the win at No. 1 while MARION SLOYAN and ALYSSA MCSPADDEN teamed up at No. 2 doubles to make it 3-0 Lions heading to singles action.

With the Lady Lions earning a default win at No. 6 singles, they needed just one win to clinch the match and the conference regular season crown. Singles play brought more Piedmont domination, as it won all five contested lines in straight sets.

The highlight was ABBEY GRACE VENHAM's 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, giving her a progam single season record 19 on the season.

Senior DAKOTA WILKES delivered a perfect 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles while freshmen JORDAN BALLARD (6-0, 6-2) and SARAH ROW (7-5, 6-1) each won in straight sets at No. 3 and No. 5 singles, respectively.

Finally, MIA VASHER delivered a clinical 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles to help the Lady Lions win by a 9-0 margin for the sixth time in seven conference matches.

Up next, the Lady Lions will have the No. 1 seed for the upcoming inaugural CCS Tournament, beginning this coming Thursday, April 27 in Rome, Georgia.

IN THE RECORD BOOKS:
- Venham has won 19 singles matches including the fall, good for a new Piedmont record. She is 11-2 in dual matches this spring with all 11 victories coming at No. 1 singles.
