DEMOREST, Ga. - It was a familiar sight for the Lions faithful as the comeback kids were at it again with another 8th inning rally to claim a 7-6 win over Oglethorpe Tuesday. The win marked the second 8th inning rally at Loudermilk in a row and the third of the season at the Jug.
Piedmont fell behind 1-0 in the first but quickly answered as
CARTER BALLSTADT stole third as
KOLTON HICKS stole home. That was the first of two runs scored by Hicks as he bookended the day.
The Lions managed two runs in the first inning and got back to business in the third with three runs on two hits and an error. The Stormy Petrels walked two batters in the inning and a total of five batters in the game.
The fourth inning is when Oglethorpe began to rally with three runs of their own to make it a one run game, but that was the start of a 5-0 run for the Stormy Petrels as they claimed a 6-5 lead in the seventh.
Piedmont was able to answer back with one in the seventh to tie it up, but it was once again eighth inning heroics that proved to be the difference.
Hicks singled and stole second where
KYLE CARLSON traded places with him to drive in the game-winning run.
BRADEN SIMMS closed out the game on the mound earning his third save of the season.

The Lions will travel to Methodist this weekend for a series beginning Friday at 2 p.m.
