ORLANDO, Fla. - The Piedmont men's tennis team began its Orlando Spring Break Trip with a Monday split, highlighted by a big bounce back win over Immaculata in the afternoon.

The Lions began the morning with a hard-fought 5-3 loss to Schreiner before rolling past Immaculata in dominant fashion, winning all eight matches that were played to the conclusion.

Match 1: Schreiner 5, Piedmont 3

All three doubles matches were closely contested. However, the Mountaineers were able to emerge victorious in two of the three, giving them a huge point advantage and the momentum heading into singles. RYAN RAUGH and CONNOR PHELPS pulled out their match at No. 3 with an 8-5 win while the No. 2 team of JACKSON TRAYLOR and SIMON JOHNSTONE fell in a tiebreaker (8-7)(6)).

Trailing 2-1 heading into singles action, the Lions dropped the first match to finish to fall in a 3-1 hole. Playing his first match of the season at No. 4 singles, MIKE PORCELLI rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 win to tighten the Piedmont deficit to 3-2. Unfortunately, Schreiner prevailed in a hard-fought two-set match at No. 3 singles and then clinched the match with a third-set 10-point breaker win at No. 1.

YANNICK WASSMER NAVARRO played a grueling match, battling back to win a second-set tiebreaker after dropping the first set. However, Schreiner's Carson Kirk prevailed in the match breaker to give Schreiner the win.

With the match decided, Traylor continued his winning ways in singles action, cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5. Phelps won his first set 6-4, but did not finish his match at No. 6.

Match 2: Piedmont 8, Immaculata 1

Piedmont rebounded in its second match of the day, evening its Florida record with the 8-1 rout. The only loss the Lions took for the match was then they were forced to default at No. 1 doubles due to injury.

From there, Piedmont rolled in both doubles matches that were played and won each of the six singles lines in straight sets.

JC FOSTER did not drop a single game in a 6-0, 6-0 rout at No. 5 before KODY DILLS just lost two total games in a dominant win at No. 6 singles. LEO GALARZA earned the clinch, winning 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4.

Continuing to roll, freshman AUSTYN ADDERLY picked up his first career dual match singles win, dropping just one game on his way to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3.

Finally, NILE MORRIS (6-3, 6-4) and Raugh (6-1, 6-2) closed out the festivities with two-set victories at No. 2 and No. 1, respectively.

Now sitting at 4-2 on the young season, the Lions are off on Tuesday before playing Hampden-Sydney (12 p.m.) and Trine (7 p.m.) in doubleheader action on Wednesday.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- RYAN RAUGH was perfect on the day, picking up Piedmont's lone doubles win over Schreiner (8-5) at No. 3 with CONNOR PHELPS before closing out the 8-1 win over Immaculata with an easy win at No. 1 singles.
