The Bears pushed the Lady Lions in a doubles match and took one singles match, but Piedmont was able to sweep the doubles lines and then won 5-of-6 singles matches.

JORDAN BALLARD and HOLLAN RABENSDORF started things off on the right note, cruising to an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles to put the first point on the board. The duo of ABBEY GRACE VENHAM and DAKOTA WILKES moved to 3-0 together this season with an 8-3 victory at No. 2.

In the final doubles match, BROOK PATTON and BRI LAIDMAN outlasted their opponents in a tiebreaker to give the Lady Lions the doubles sweep and a 3-0 lead.

The first wave of singles concluded as MARION SLOYAN won a hard-fought first set on her way to a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 1.

In the final three matches of the day, Patton went to 2-0 overall on the afternoon, rolling 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6.

Freshman SARAH ROW then remained undefeated, winning a grueling first set, 7-5, and then taking the second set, 6-2, to make it 8-0 Lady Lions.

The Bears were able to salvage a point at the end, winning in a third-set superbreaker at No. 4.

Up next, the Lady Lions will step back into conference competition, with a road match against Covenant scheduled for Saturday, April 1 at 2 p.m.
