JACKSON, Miss. - The Piedmont baseball team was unable to take the series finale dropping the final contest 4-1 at Belhaven.

The Blazers swept the series as Piedmont is still looking for its first CCS win of the year. 

Belhaven was quick out of the gate with two runs in the first off three hits. It was a quiet game as all four runs for the Blazers were scored in just two innings. 

Piedmont had just two hits heading into the fifth inning when they doubled that and were able to drive in a run cutting the lead to 2-1 Belhaven. 

The Lions were unable to string multiple hits together in an inning through the rest of the contest while the Blazers added another pair of runs in the eighth off two hits and an error. 

ZACH COURTWRIGHT took the loss pitching the entire eight innings with just two earned runs. 

The Lions turn their focus to Berea with a CCS series against the Mountaineers at home next weekend. 

TURNING POINT:
--Belhaven bookended the game with two runs in the first inning and in the bottom of the eighth to secure the win. 

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--COLE ELLIS accounted for the lone RBI of the game as he was 2-for-4 Saturday.
